What do you guys think? Is the setting/story better or worse? I do think that these things can come down to personal preference however. I found it overly simplistic, especially because it end up doing your Nazi killing job for you. Then you simply have to blow this monstrosity away with firepower. In fact, it reminded me of the snow monster from Frozen mixed with The Mummy kind of vibes. The monster doesn't look or feel anything special. I feel as if the game builds up the end, gets you thinking about it with a sense of intrigue & mystery & then throws a very simplistic one at you. For me, a complete anti-climax & what blows "cold". The tone & the music the game uses when they first appear really hits the spot, even though soldiers randomly becoming zombies later can really ruin your stealthiness. I also think the Nazi zombie missions in this are done really well & I have a soft spot for killing Nazi zombies. After all, I did really enjoy Return to Castle Wolfenstein & the tone of the two games is very very similar. I know the irony of this statement is evident, especially after the last few parts of the story, but this may be my personal preference coming through. I never needed to detach my brain either, the story is not as naff in my opinion. It seems it has more focus &, like a few told me before, it makes for a much more gameplay focused experience as there are not as many cutscenes. The story, for me, also blows hot & cold. I don't consider this to be a bad thing, I think it was meant to be a DLC after all, it is just different. The game is actually in & of itself more limited in my opinion. Now, I realise this is much more limited but I think it works here. It takes place in Castle Wolfenstein & then the village/town below it (which also has a dig site). It is almost as if the tone is more serious, after all there are no funny pop culture references (like The Beatles in German) simply due to the setting. I saved Kessler.įirstly, this game is still fun but it is not the same mindless fun as The New Order. It is 1946 & you are heading behind enemy lines to get a hold of documents that will reveal the location of Totenkopf's compound. The Old Blood is set before the beginning of The New Order.
